Today, Turkish President Erdogan travels to Pakistan.

At the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad today (Wednesday) for a two-day visit to Pakistan.

According to a statement from the Foreign Office, President Erdogan will be joined by a high-level group that includes business executives, ministers, and other senior officials.

The prime minister and president of Turkey will co-chair the 7th session of the High Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) between Pakistan and Turkey when they are in the country. Several significant agreements and memorandums of understanding are anticipated to be signed at the end of the session, along with a joint declaration. Additionally, the two leaders will discuss a joint press stakeout.

Additionally, President Erdogan will meet with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz in private. He will also speak at the Pakistan-Turkeyye Business and Investment Forum, which will bring together prominent businesspeople, firms, and investors from both countries, with the premier.

The High Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) is the highest level decision-making body that offers strategic guidance to improve the two nations’ bilateral ties.

The HLSCC is home to several Joint Standing Committees (JSCs) that address a variety of topics, such as trade, investment, banking, finance, culture, tourism, energy, defense, agriculture, transportation, communication, information technology, health, science and technology, and education. Thus far, the HLSCC has convened six sessions. The last session took place from February 13–14, 2020, in Islamabad, according to the FO statement.

Historical fraternal connections bind Turkiye and Pakistan together. The 7th Session of the HLSCC and the visit of the Turkish President are expected to strengthen the two nations’ varied collaboration and foster closer ties.
