Traffic on the motorway is prohibited due to smog and accidents.
Punjab’s severe smog is still making travel difficult, leading to the closure of motorways and hazardous driving conditions.
Many of the routes impacted by the heavy smog have been closed by the Motorway Police to ensure safe passage. Among these are Motorways M2 and M3, which connect Lahore to Sheikhupura, Jaranwala, and Abdul Hakeem, respectively, and Gojra, Gojra, and Mecca.
Travelers were warned by a Motorway Police representative to steer clear of the dark and instead travel during the day when visibility is better. Using front and rear fog lights is also advised for increased safety.
“Motorways are closed to ensure safe travel,” the speaker continued.
Moreover, Friday morning saw many car crashes close to Sheikhupura’s Hiran Minar Interchange caused by heavy fog and pollution, injuring five people.
Five individuals were injured in various automobile collisions along the roadway, which rescue officials say were caused by significantly reduced visibility. In addition to numerous automobiles being damaged, all injured people were taken to the hospital for first help.
Motorway Police and Rescue 1122 are conducting rescue operations on the scene. Near the Hiran Minar Interchange on the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway, traffic has been stopped due to the accident.
According to the Motorway Police, as soon as the rescue efforts are finished, the route will be open to traffic again.
