US President Donald Trump was named ambassador of peace by Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for his efforts to end wars.
Premier Shehbaz and Field Marshal Asim met President Trump at the White House, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.
The prime minister commended President Trump’s audacious, valiant, and resolute leadership in mediating a truce between India and Pakistan, averting a catastrophic tragedy in South Asia.
Prime Minister Shehbaz spoke about the Middle East situation and commended President Trump’s efforts to bring about a ceasefire in Gaza, especially his move earlier this week to bring important Muslim leaders to New York for talks aimed at bringing peace back to Gaza and the West Bank.
In addition, the prime minister praised him for the tariff deal that the United States and Pakistan had reached and said that he hoped that under Trump’s leadership, Pakistan-US relations would improve for the mutual benefit of both countries.
The prime minister extended an invitation to US businesses to engage in Pakistan’s energy, mining, IT, and agriculture industries.
The two leaders also talked about counterterrorism cooperation and regional security during the meeting. Prime Minister Shehbaz stressed the importance of strengthening security and intelligence collaboration and thanked President Trump for recognizing Pakistan’s efforts in counterterrorism.
Additionally, he formally invited President Trump to travel to Pakistan.

According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Muhammad Yunus, the chief adviser for Bangladesh, in New York prior to his meeting with Donald Trump.
Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s determination to establish “constructive and forward-looking” ties with Bangladesh on the basis of trust, respect, and a common goal of peace and development in the region.
The leaders discussed ways to improve trade, regional connectivity, and people-to-people interactions while also reviewing bilateral ties. Yunus emphasized the need to increase commerce and cultural ties while applauding Pakistan’s initiative for deeper involvement.
2025 will be a historic year for Pakistan, according to Khawaja Asif.
Defense Minister Khawaja Asif responded to the news by stating that 2025 had been a historic year for Pakistan, pointing to the country’s triumph over India, a new defense agreement with Saudi Arabia, and the notable advancements in ties between the US and Pakistan.
He called these accomplishments a source of pride and thankfulness for the country and attributed their success to the “hybrid system” relationship.
Asif pointed out that following years of Washington depending on India to offset China’s influence in Asia, US-Pakistan ties have improved in recent months under Trump.
