Trump wants US companies to invest in Pakistan right away: PM

His encounter with President Donald Trump was hailed as “historic” for bilateral relations by Pakistan’s IT and other important sectors.
PM Shehbaz told reporters in New Jersey that President Trump has called on American businesses to invest in Pakistan right away.
Offers of investment were made in the fields of energy, minerals, IT, and agriculture; the price of the minerals was to be decided equitably between the two countries.
Future trade deals with the US will be based on reciprocal benefits, Shehbaz Sharif continued, guaranteeing equitable collaboration across industries.
The role of a ceasefire and a warm reception
The premier described the reception he received in the United States as “unprecedented in 40 years,” comparing it to his previous experience in Saudi Arabia.
He gave the Pakistan Army, led by Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, credit for preventing war with India and commended their intelligence. He also acknowledged the US’s involvement in mediating peace, stating that on May 10, the Secretary of State delivered India’s ceasefire message.
Trump and the White House meeting
Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir were welcomed by President Trump at the White House. Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio also attended the one-hour and twenty-minute Oval Office meeting.
The Prime Minister’s Office reports that the topics of conversation included trade, intelligence collaboration, counterterrorism, and regional security. President Trump was also extended an invitation by Shehbaz Sharif to travel to Pakistan.
In addition to thanking Trump for the trade deal, PM Shehbaz said that under his direction, ties between the US and Pakistan could improve and both nations would gain equally.
He commended Trump’s “bold and decisive” strategy, claiming that by securing a truce between India and Pakistan, his leadership has prevented a catastrophic catastrophe in South Asia.
UN and Chinese engagements
In a previous meeting with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, Shehbaz Sharif brought up the subject of Indian terrorism in Pakistan and called for a fair resolution of the Kashmir conflict in accordance with UN resolutions. Additionally, he suggested increased funding for countries impacted by climate change.
The Prime Minister was thanked for his UN speech in an informal meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang, and the two leaders reaffirmed their bilateral cooperation.
