Twenty-six fatalities occurred after a bus transporting wedding attendees fell into a river in GB.
A sad tragedy resulted in the death of 26 individuals when a passenger bus transporting wedding guests from Astore, GB, to Chakwal drove off the Thalichi Bridge and fell into the river.
A total of 27 individuals were on the coaster, with only the bride, Malaika, surviving.
The wounded bride was transported to the hospital, and rescue activities are in progress, involving local citizens, rescue personnel, and police in the search efforts.
Deputy Commissioner Astore, Muhammad Tariq, confirmed the recovery and transportation of 14 victims’ bodies to the Astore District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital. “The vehicle involved in the accident has also been recovered from the river,” he added.
Home Minister Shams Lone spoke on the incident, stating, “Preliminary investigations indicate that the calamity transpired due to the vehicle’s loss of control on the slick surface of the Thalichi Bridge.”
We are investigating all possibilities, including possible mechanical failure, to ascertain the cause of this tragic event.
The Rescue 1122 mission was temporarily halted due to dusk. Deputy Commissioner Tariq announced, “The rescue teams will recommence their operations tomorrow morning to locate and recover the remaining bodies.”
President Asif Ali Zardari has sent his condolences on the fatalities in the coaster accident in Gilgit-Baltistan. In a statement released on Tuesday, he expressed condolences to the bereaved families and urged the expeditious enhancement of relief efforts.
