Vehicles for baord officials should be bought, according to the FBR chairman.
The Senate Standing Committee objected, but Federal Board of Revenue Chairman Rashid Mahmood said that cars will be bought for the board officers.
The Senate Standing Committee on Finance had mandated that the achievement of tax targets be a prerequisite for FBR officers to purchase cars.
At a ceremony held here on Sunday, the FBR chairman told reporters that automobiles would be purchased for young board executives who must travel to the field for operations and recoveries. He also mentioned that the Senate Standing Committee had received an acceptable response.
The chairman said that the head offices of large, international corporations are located in Karachi, and that the city is the source of tax collection records when asked about the high tax collection rate in the city.
The chairman said that the Constitution, federalism, and finance have resolved the issue of Karachi’s increased revenue being not used for the city’s development.
According to him, in two to three months, trucks and cars would both have tracking systems installed.
