With heavy rain predicted, the NDMA warns of urban floods in Islamabad, northern Punjab.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) raised alert on Saturday about the possibility of urban flooding in northern Punjab and Islamabad, which is predicted to occur in the next two to six hours as a result of heavy rains.

The following areas are expected to be affected: Murree, Galiyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, and the adjacent areas, according to a NEOC advisory.

According to the NDMA, Friday’s extreme heat caused a system of tall cumulus clouds to form, which might lead to heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning. In addition, authorities have warned of extensive power outages, damage to susceptible infrastructure, and the potential for landslides in steep areas.

It is highly recommended that residents park their cars in safe places, avoid standing close to trees or other unstable objects, and avoid making needless trips during the period of heavy rains.
