Punjab suspends all government leave due to India-Pakistan tensions.

The Punjab government has stopped all forms of leave for employees of government departments due to the current emergency scenario.

The Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) issued a directive prohibiting any government officer or employee from taking leave until further notice. The action was executed “in light of the urgent circumstances,” the announcement stated.

The notification did not delineate the precise cause of the emergency; however, it follows heightened regional tensions subsequent to a suspected Indian airstrike on metropolitan locales in Pakistan late Monday night.

Military reports indicate that the Indian Air Force executed a hit under the veil of night, aiming at both civilian and important sites. Pakistan’s military responded swiftly, asserting that it had downed five Indian aircraft, comprising three Rafale fighters. The retaliation allegedly led to the obliteration of several Indian military installations, including a brigade headquarters.

Official announcements from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) have yet to be issued; however, preliminary reports indicate that the Indian military displayed a white flag at the Chura complex along the Line of Control (LoC), signifying a de facto capitulation in the immediate fighting zone.

No civilian casualties have been reported to date; however, rescue activities are reportedly in progress in the impacted metropolitan areas.

Security measures throughout Punjab and neighbouring provinces have been heightened, with hospitals on high alert and emergency services mandated to operate continuously.
