Finance Minister Aurangzeb pledges to maintain collaboration with the United States in the minerals sector.

Federal Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb conducted pivotal meetings on the inaugural day of the IMF and World Bank spring sessions in Washington.

During his discussion with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, the Finance Minister reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to pursuing reforms. He also sent an invitation from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for him to visit Pakistan.

During his visit, Mohammad Aurangzeb met with the Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Treasury and officials from the World Bank. Furthermore, he participated in a luncheon organized by the U.S.-Pakistan Business Council, where he interacted with American business executives.

The Finance Minister commenced his journey to Washington with a series of high-level meetings on the inaugural day of the IMF and World Bank Group’s annual Spring Meetings. He conferred with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, conveying appreciation for the staff-level accord and the commencement of the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF). He reiterated the government’s dedication to pursuing institutional changes.

During a meeting with U.S. Assistant Secretary of the Treasury Robert Kaproth, Aurangzeb presented an update on the enhancement of Pakistan’s economic indices. He also addressed current issues including the tax system, public institutions, pensions, and debt management.

In a meeting with World Bank Group President Ajay Banga, the Finance Minister underscored the significance of the Country Partnership Framework in tackling the problems presented by population growth and climate change.

The Finance Minister participated in a luncheon organized by the U.S.-Pakistan Business Council, engaging in discussions with American business leaders regarding regional trade and market diversification. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to ongoing collaboration with the United States, especially in the mining sector.

Senator Mohammad Aurangzeb completed the day by conferring with Mohammad Nasheed, the Secretary-General of the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) and V20. The Finance Minister emphasized the significance of four of the six principal findings from the CVF, which he deems essential for Pakistan’s endeavors to address climate concerns. He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to finalizing projects with incremental financial support.
