CJP Afridi returns to Pakistan following an international trip.

Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Yahya Afridi, returned to the country on Sunday after concluding official visits to China and Turkey.

The Supreme Court stated that the top justice attended a conference of member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in China.

The gathering was attended by chief justices and other judicial officials from member countries of the SCO.

A multitude of significant legal issues were deliberated throughout the meeting.

During the event, CJP Afridi conducted bilateral discussions with the chief justices of Iran and Turkey.

The summit ended with a joint communiqué in which the member governments reaffirmed their dedication to the fundamental values of the SCO.

The statement also underscored the significance of cybersecurity and digital governance.

The participants acknowledged the necessity for the judicious application of artificial intelligence and advanced technologies, and concurred on enhancing legal frameworks for alternative conflict resolution mechanisms, including arbitration and mediation, alongside the safeguarding of children’s rights.

The forthcoming SCO judicial meeting is scheduled to take place in Iran in 2026.

Subsequent to his visit to China, the chief justice traveled to Istanbul to participate in a ceremony organized by the Constitutional Court of Turkiye.
