In a significant institutional reform initiative, the FIA creates a forensic directorate.

Islamabad: Director General Rafat Mukhtar Raja is in charge of the newly created “Directorate of Forensic Lab” at the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). This action represents a crucial stage in improving the agency’s forensic skills and bringing it into compliance with worldwide investigation norms.
The recently formed directorate, housed at the FIA Headquarters in Islamabad, is outfitted with cutting-edge technology designed to improve the forensic and investigative capabilities of the organisation.
The effort, according to FIA officials, will allow for thorough forensic investigation of counterfeit or dubious travel documents as well as in-depth study of digital devices like laptops and cell phones that have been seized from suspects.
The directorate will use geo-fencing technology to track suspect movements and has sophisticated fingerprint verification tools. According to an FIA spokesperson, the forensic unit will use its technical skills to enhance investigations into banking fraud and other financial crimes, putting the agency in a better position to address today’s criminal concerns.
