The ambassador of Islamabad to the US praises Starlink for helping to close Pakistan’s digital divide.

The revolutionary potential of Starlink services, which are anticipated to be active in Pakistan by the end of this year, has been praised by Pakistan’s ambassador to the US, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, as a crucial step in closing the nation’s digital divide.

The Associated Press of Pakistan reports that he made the comments while on a tour of SpaceX’s Los Angeles headquarters.

Elon Musk, the tech entrepreneur, owns Starlink, a satellite-based internet service that uses low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites to provide high-speed access, particularly in underserved and distant areas. Along with a delegation, the ambassador received an update on Pakistan and SpaceX’s continued cooperation. Talks centered on how SpaceX’s commercial capabilities and Starlink’s LEO infrastructure could revolutionize Pakistan’s digital landscape.

The Director of Global Business Development and the Vice President of Global Business Operations of Starlink welcomed the delegation. Additionally, a guided tour of the headquarters was offered, highlighting SpaceX’s state-of-the-art satellite internet technology and future prospects.

Both parties discussed ways to improve connectivity and increase broadband availability during the visit, especially in Pakistan’s rural and isolated areas. Pakistan’s dedication to fostering innovation through strategic international relationships was reiterated by Ambassador Rizwan Saeed. He said he hoped such interactions would result in real collaboration in digital infrastructure, commercial innovation, and space technologies.

The move is a component of larger initiatives to improve relations between the private IT industries in Pakistan and the US.
