Prime Minister Shehbaz pledges economic resilience and national cohesion on Youm-e-Takbeer.

On the occasion of the 27th anniversary of Youm-e-Takbeer on Wednesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended Pakistan’s nuclear advancement and urged for revitalised unity and will to elevate the nation into an economic powerhouse.

In his address, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude to Allah Almighty and extended congratulations to the people of Pakistan, stating, “On Youm-e-Takbeer, I sincerely thank Allah Almighty and congratulate the entire nation and all patriotic Pakistanis.”

Commemorating 27 years since Pakistan emerged as the seventh nuclear power globally and the first among Muslim nations, PM Sharif underscored that Youm-e-Takbeer transcended mere celebration, serving as a solemn reminder of Pakistan’s commitment to protect its sovereignty.

The Prime Minister associated this year’s anniversary with what he termed Pakistan’s recent triumph in safeguarding itself from “an unwarranted war instigated by India.” He lauded the nation’s spirit during the May 6-10 confrontation, asserting, “The joys of Youm-e-Takbeer have been amplified for a victorious nation.”

In contemplating the historic nuclear tests of May 28, 1998, executed under Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s leadership, the Prime Minister remarked that the choice to conduct six nuclear tests, in contrast to India’s five, exemplified a “iron resolve” amidst international pressure and sanctions.

“Mr. Nawaz Sharif embodied the aspirations and national interests of the entire populace… and rendered our geographical borders invulnerable indefinitely,” he stated.

Prime Minister Shehbaz lauded the architects of Pakistan’s nuclear project, notably Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan, the scientific community, and the armed forces, for their contributions to the establishment of Pakistan’s deterrent capabilities. He commended the public for their steadfast support and sacrifices during the voyage.

“I commend the nation that made significant sacrifices for the realisation of the nuclear programme and crafted a proud narrative of its resolve and conviction,” he asserted.

He drew comparisons between the historical development of Pakistan’s nuclear programme and the establishment of Pakistan, referencing the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and stated, “National history attests that the populace and political leadership of Pakistan have consistently achieved the impossible.”

Prime Minister Shehbaz implored the country to extend the ethos of Youm-e-Takbeer beyond defence into economic change. He stated, “Youm-e-Takbeer is a day of national unity and a declaration of unwavering commitment to freedom and sovereignty.” Today, we commit to transforming Pakistan into an economic powerhouse and securing its rightful position in the global arena. God willing. Long live Pakistan.”
