India will practice border drills with Pakistan.

Only a few weeks after a truce was mediated in response to a military escalation, four Indian states bordering Pakistan are scheduled to begin extensive civil defense simulated exercises on Thursday (today).
Authorities cited by the Indian media said that on Thursday night, mock drills will be held in Gujarat, Punjab, and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
In order to improve preparedness in the event of a disaster, the Haryana government has also planned a state-wide emergency preparedness exercise called “Operation Shield,” which is set to begin tonight at 5 p.m. (local time) in all 22 districts.
According to Indian media, the exercise, which is being led by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), would mimic crucial events including airstrikes, drone strikes, and other combat situations in response to national security concerns.
Additionally, from 8 p.m. to 8:15 p.m., a 15-minute controlled blackout will be observed in the vicinity of critical installations, excluding critical emergency services like police, fire, and hospital facilities.
“The exercise aims to test existing emergency mechanisms, improve coordination between the civil administration, defense forces, and local communities, and identify areas that need to be strengthened, thus ensuring swift and effective response during any crisis,” stated Dr. Sumita Misra, Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department Haryana.
Following India’s airstrikes in Pakistan that killed 26 civilians by striking civilian targets, including mosques, a statewide simulated exercise was held on May 7.
