Tremor, the 11th in 24 hours, once more shakes sections of Karachi.

A small earthquake was once again detected in portions of Karachi late Monday night, as reported by Pakistan’s seismic monitoring agency.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) indicated that the earthquake occurred at approximately 11:16 PM, registering a value of 2.4 on the Richter scale. The epicentre was located at Malir, approximately 10 km beneath the surface.

The earthquakes were detected in areas of the megacity, including Landhi Sherpao Colony and Quaidabad. No early reports of injuries or damage were available.

The tremor signifies the 11th occurrence in the last 24 hours, heightening apprehensions among locals as the PMD has cautioned that minor aftershocks may persist for the next two days.

A prior earthquake was documented at 8:49 PM, registering a magnitude of 3.0 on the Richter scale, as reported by the Seismic Monitoring Centre. The epicentre was situated roughly 30 miles east of the Defence Housing Authority, at a depth of 13 kilometres, according to the monitoring centre.

Residents had reported experiencing vibrations in the areas of Landhi and Malir at around 10:25 AM. Residents of Quaidabad, Malir, Saudabad, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Khokhrapar, Steel Town, and adjacent areas also reported feeling the tremors.

A subsequent series of tremors occurred at 11:04 AM, inciting widespread concern. A multitude of residents hastily exited their residences in terror.

The Seismological Centre reported that the tremor in Landhi and Malir had a magnitude of 3.2. The epicentre was situated at Quaidabad at a depth of 10 km. The earthquake was officially documented at 10:29 AM.
