NHA implements a 50% toll increase for vehicles without M-Tag

The National Highways Authority (NHA) has announced the imposition of a 50% additional toll fee on non-M-Tag and low-balance cars, commencing June 15, 2025, as part of the transition to a fully implemented 100 percent M-Tag system on motorways.
In accordance with the authority granted by Section 10 (2) vii of the NHA Act-1991, as revised in 2024, the National Highways Authority now announces an additional toll rate of 50% on its Motorways Network, commencing June 15, 2025, applicable to all Non-M-Tag and Low Balance Vehicles. The notification states the amended toll charges, which incorporate the 50% penalty amount.
The updated toll rates will be implemented for different vehicle categories on major motorways, including M-1 (Islamabad–Peshawar), M-2 (Lahore–Islamabad), M-3 (Pindi Bhattian–Multan), M-4 (Faisalabad–Multan), M-5 (Multan–Sukkur), M-9 (Karachi–Hyderabad), M-14 (D.I. Khan–Hakla), and E-35 (Hassanabdal–Mansehra Expressway).
The notification states that the revised toll for vehicles on the Islamabad-Lahore motorway is Rs1,800, the toll for the Lahore-Abdul Hakim segment of the M3 is Rs1,200, and the toll for the Pindi Bhattian-Multan (M4) route is Rs1,600.
The revised toll for vehicles on the Multan-Sukkur (M5) route is set at Rs1,800, but the toll for the DI Khan-Hakla (M14) route has been raised to Rs1,000.
The toll for a car on the Hassanabdal-Manshera Expressway (E35) is established at Rs450, while the toll for Lahore-Islamabad 2 and 3 axle trucks is set at Rs7,900, and the toll for articulated trucks is fixed at Rs10,200.
Motorists are advised to register for M-Tags and maintain adequate account balance to prevent incurring additional fees. The NHA has enabled M-Tag registration at certain motorway toll plazas and accredited service locations around the country.
