Punjab implements its first Child Protection Policy

The Punjab cabinet has sanctioned the province’s inaugural comprehensive Child Protection Policy.
This policy, formulated by the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau with technical assistance from UNICEF Pakistan, is regarded as a new standard for child welfare, representing a significant advancement in the effort to eradicate violence, abuse, exploitation, and neglect of children within communities.
The policy, as stated by the CPWB chairperson, functions as a detailed framework for child protection systems throughout Punjab. This represents the culmination of work that commenced over two years ago with the submission of the draft to the home department. Case management operations within the policy framework have been ongoing for more than a year.
During the cabinet meeting addressing 101 agenda items, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif outlined a strategy to decrease power tariffs to offer substantial relief to the populace.
This is the second instance of a province manipulating electricity tariffs, which are originally a federal matter. Upon implementation, Punjab will become the inaugural province to voluntarily decrease electricity costs.
The chief minister sanctioned a decrease in the tariffs of Punjab’s electricity providers. Under the directive of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, tariffs may be decreased by 30 to 40 percent.
The provincial cabinet sanctioned the decrease in pricing for Quaid-i-Azam and Punjab Thermal Power Private Limited.
The chief minister announced that a substantial package will be provided to the wheat growers to address the problems of the farmers in the regions.
The conference disclosed that the subsidy payment of Rs5,000 per acre had been finalized for 514,000 wheat growers.
Payment will be issued following the completion of the verification process for an additional 500,000 farmers.
An allocation of Rs63 billion was made in the second phase via the Kisan Card, and farmers have acquired fertilizer valued at Rs18 billion.

The cabinet sanctioned the formation of Air Punjab Private Limited Company, perpetuating the provincial PML-N government’s practice of establishing many corporations and bodies.
The Chief Minister has a goal to inaugurate Air Punjab within one year.
She ordered immediate steps for closing vaping centres in the province. She instructed the authorities to provide safety equipment for laborers and tasked the labor department with the objective of enforcing safety standard operating procedures for workers within one month.
The provincial cabinet sanctioned ration cards for workers and miners registered with the labor department and authorized the deployment of electric buses in nine divisions of Punjab.
The Chief Minister mandated the prompt establishment of charging stations in all major cities.
Eco-tourism initiatives were sanctioned for Changa Manga and Lal Sohanra parks.
