KARACHI: The opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly, Ali Khurshidi of MQM-P, on Wednesday delivered a vehement condemnation of K-Electric during a session of the House Committee on Energy, in response to escalating public indignation regarding extensive load-shedding in the city as the sweltering summer intensifies.
Khurshidi, accompanied by several provincial legislators, voiced significant apprehension at the ongoing “subpar performance” of the city’s exclusive power distributor and charged the CEO of K-E with shirking accountability. He posed incisive inquiries; nonetheless, participants noted that the CEO’s replies were ambiguous and did not provide any substantive ideas.
“How can an entity responsible for overseeing a vital public utility be absolved of accountability during a crisis of this scale?” Khurshidi inquired during the sessions.
