The Punjab government announces a comprehensive sanitation plan for Eid-ul-Azha.

Zeeshan Rafiq, Punjab’s Minister for Local Government, has stated that the province is thoroughly prepared to maintain cleanliness and sanitation during Eid-ul-Azha, with comprehensive preparation currently in progress.
In his address to the public, he stated that the sanitation strategy will be disclosed clearly and executed diligently.
The “Suthra Punjab” program has established an extensive network of machines and personnel throughout urban and rural areas. Rafiq stated that 180 sales points had been established via the formation of complimentary livestock markets, with the Shahpur Kanjran Model Market exemplifying this initiative.
The Chief Minister of Punjab opened the model market, characterized by especially efficient sanitation and security procedures.
The government intends to distribute approximately 12 million waste bags to aid citizens in the correct disposal of animal excrement. These will be accessible at union councils, designated camps, and may also be obtained via the 1139 helpline.
During the three days of Eid, about 380,000 tons of animal waste will be handled by nearly 180,000 sanitation personnel. More than 36,000 trucks will be utilized for rubbish collection, accompanied by 292,000 brooms and handcarts.
Rafiq underscored that, akin to Eid-ul-Fitr, dedicated cleaning initiatives will also be implemented in cemeteries and mosques. In this instance, 27,000 mosques in Punjab would undergo cleaning. Furthermore, 4,000 UC-level camps and major garbage collection sites will be built.
Punjab will establish 1,684 collective sacrifice sites (ijtimai qurbangahs) and 816 garbage disposal sites. To mitigate unpleasant scents, rosewater and phenyl sprays will be extensively utilized. A total of 30,563 liters of rosewater and around 142,000 units of phenyl will be employed throughout the province.
These initiatives demonstrate the Punjab government’s dedication to upholding cleanliness, public health, and effective waste management during one of the year’s most arduous cleaning operations.
