The Punjab government prohibits doctors from travelling internationally.

The Punjab government has prohibited the administrators of all government hospitals from autonomously approving leave for doctors wishing to travel abroad.

A notification from the Punjab Health Department states that all such requests will now necessitate prior approval from the chief minister.

As per the new policy, doctors serving in government hospitals must submit their leave applications at least one month in advance if they intend to travel overseas. The ultimate determination regarding such applications will be exclusively the responsibility of the chief minister.

The notification stipulates that no hospital administrator, medical superintendent, or principal may approve or transmit such leave requests without adhering to the appropriate protocol.
