Cricket will return to the Olympics at LA28, with the location confirmed.

Cricket will reappear in the Olympics after 128 years, with the Fairgrounds in Pomona, Southern California, designated as the location for the 2028 Los Angeles Games.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) endorsed the statement, deeming it a significant advancement in the preparations for the sport’s reintroduction to the Olympics.

Both the men’s and women’s T20 tournaments will occur, comprising six teams each. A maximum of 90 participants each gender will be permitted, with teams consisting of up to 15 members.

ICC Chair Jay Shah stated that the T20 format will facilitate cricket’s expansion to new audiences and commended the partnership with LA28 and the International Olympic Committee.

Cricket was last contested in the Olympics in 1900. Its reinstatement was affirmed in October 2023, among five additional sports, including baseball/softball and squash.
