Treaty suspension, according to Sheikh Rashid, is “water terrorism.”

Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, the leader of the Awami Muslim League and a former interior minister, has denounced India’s decision to halt the Indus Waters Treaty as an act of “water terrorism.”
Sheikh Rashid called India’s accusations against Pakistan over the Pahalgam incident “baseless” in a social media posting, adding that cutting off water is the same as declaring war. He emphasized that a bilateral agreement cannot be unilaterally suspended by India.
He added that it is impossible to overlook the horrors being inflicted on Kashmiris in India and cautioned that the Pakistani people are well-equipped to protect every square inch of their territory. When the time comes, India will get a suitable reaction, he said.
In what is widely regarded as an act of “hydro-political aggression” against Pakistan, India has announced the immediate suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty.

In addition, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said that all visas granted to Pakistani nationals will be revoked, and those who were already in India were told to depart within 48 hours.
The decision was made by the Indian government after 26 tourists were killed a day ago when militants opened fire on holidaymakers in Pahalgam, a well-known tourist resort in occupied Kashmir.
India has also stopped granting Pakistani nationals visas under the SAARC framework.
