LHC CJ emphasizes using contemporary techniques to resolve outstanding matters.

Chief Justice Alia Neelum of the Lahore High Court has emphasized the necessity of implementing a cutting-edge approach to expedite the resolution of outstanding cases.

On Wednesday, the chief justice of the LHC was speaking to a group of Punjabi High Court Bar Association presidents.

According to Chief Justice Alia Neelum of the Lahore High Court, the LHC was overburdened with pending cases, making it impossible to handle them all by conventional means.

The presidents of the High Court Bar Associations were informed by Chief Justice Alia Neelum on new SOPs and judicial reforms.

According to her, the SOPs were created in response to Supreme Court directives and are intended to stop fraudulent and phony cases from entering the district court system.

The topics of the discussion included administrative issues, judicial reforms, and legal community issues.

In order to stop fraudulent payments from the government treasury using fake and self-made documents, effective processes have been implemented.

Completing an information sheet about every case in every way is now required. A photograph must be attached to the information sheet, together with the petitioner’s and plaintiff’s signatures or thumb impressions. A petitioner or plaintiff will make sure that their photo is attached via a webcam from any location.

The chief judge stated that the plaintiff or petitioner’s CNIC number and cellphone number must be included on the information sheet.

Changes have been made to the file covers used for case filing, and the High Court will begin using the new covers in June 2025. For civil, criminal, family, and business matters, file covers and strips in various colors have been created.

Similar to this, various colored tapes and strips have been utilized for writ petitions based on subcategories. Chief Justice Alia Neelum stated that file covers featuring new tapes and strips would soon be available for purchase.

According on the priority and type of the cases, she said, a cause list for the early hearing will also be provided in various colors.

Regarding the digitalization of courts, the chief justice informed the delegation that the Lahore High Court mobile application now displays the cause list of daily cases.

The smartphone app will allow litigants and attorneys to see which court is hearing a certain case. LCDs will also be installed outside all the courts of the Lahore High Court for live broadcasting of the cause list, she said.

The chief justice hoped that bar presidents would brief lawyers on judicial reforms and new SOPs through notice boards and WhatsApp groups and take lawyers into confidence on judicial reforms.

Lahore High Court Bar Association President Malik Asif Niswana, Rawalpindi High Court Bar Association President Ahsan Hameedullah, Multan High Court Bar Association President Malik Javed Dogar, and Bahawalpur High Court Bar Association President Chaudhry Nadeem Iqbal met the chief justice.

A delegation from the District Bar Association Jhang also met with the CJ. The registrar of the Lahore High Court, Amjad Iqbal Ranjha, was also present in the meeting.
