PTA Steps Up Crackdown on Illegal SIM Issuance
In close cooperation with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Zonal office in Lahore carried out a raid in relation to unauthorized SIM activations, the possession of several BVS devices, digital fingerprints, and OTP SIMs.
15 BVS devices belonging to Jazz, 1 BVS device belonging to Zong, 12,000 digital fingerprints, and 460 paper fingerprints were recovered as a result of the raid. FIA CCRC Lahore has filed a formal complaint (FIR), and an investigation is currently under progress.
PTA’s steadfast dedication to stopping the unlawful issuing of SIMs and safeguarding both national security and the privacy of individuals’ data is reflected in this action.
