The coalition government praises the opposition for its support on national matters and defense resolutions.

On Friday, Senator Irfan Siddiqui commended the opposition for endorsing the government on national matters, characterizing their collaboration as a constructive advancement in fortifying parliamentary democracy.

He explicitly recognized the opposition’s significant involvement in the enactment of measures concerning the defense of Pakistan.

During Friday’s Senate session, senators expressed significant concerns, criticizing the management of parliamentary affairs, particularly Question Hour.

Senator Irfan Siddiqui stated that the present condition of the Upper House reflects that of prior administrations. He condemned the move to delegate the task of addressing all inquiries to a solitary minister, deeming it an improper practice.

He commended the opposition for their collaboration on national matters, specifically emphasizing their assistance in the enactment of legislation concerning Pakistan’s defense.

Senator Saleem Mandviwalla expressed exasperation, observing that all existing legislation is being directed to committees. In contemplating his six-year experience with previous administrations, Mandviwalla remarked, “We cautioned them at that time against establishing such precedents.”

He vehemently condemned the management of Question Hour in the Senate, labeling it a “mockery” and asserting that it ought not to be deferred. He observed that the regulations for the deferral of Question Hour have not been adhered to, stressing that improper practices in the House must cease.

Senator Shibli Faraz addressed these criticisms by highlighting that several practices also occurred during the opposition’s administration. “If that is the rationale, then let us enact a resolution permitting all such actions to persist,” he remarked with sarcasm.

The session underscored increasing apprehensions among political factions regarding the deterioration of parliamentary standards and accountability in the Upper House.
