Trump announces that a ceasefire between Israel and Iran is currently in force and urges compliance.

On Monday, Trump declared what he termed a comprehensive ceasefire to conclude a 12-day conflict, implying that Israel and Iran would be afforded time to finalize ongoing operations before the truce commenced in a phased manner.

Witnesses reported hearing explosions in Tel Aviv and Beersheba in southern Israel before to Trump’s speech.

Israel’s military said that Iran launched six waves of missiles, resulting in four fatalities in Beersheba, as confirmed by Israel’s national ambulance service. These are the first recorded deaths in Israel since Trump’s announcement of the ceasefire.

The semi-official SNN news agency of Iran said on Tuesday that Tehran launched its final missile strike before to the implementation of the ceasefire.

A senior White House official stated that Trump negotiated a ceasefire agreement during a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, contingent upon Iran refraining from more assaults.

“Assuming all proceeds as anticipated, which it will, I extend my congratulations to both nations, Israel and Iran, for their stamina, courage, and intelligence in concluding what should be termed ‘THE 12 DAY WAR,’” Trump stated on his Truth Social platform.

An Iranian official previously affirmed that Tehran had consented to a truce; but, the foreign minister stated that hostilities would not cease unless Israel halted its assaults.

Abbas Araqchi stated early Tuesday that if Israel ceased its “illegal aggression” on the Iranian populace by 4 am Tehran time (0030 GMT) on Tuesday, Iran would not pursue further retaliation thereafter.

Araqchi stated in a post on X that the ultimate decision on the termination of our military activities will be made at a later time.

Israel, accompanied by the United States over the weekend, has executed strikes on Iran’s nuclear installations, asserting that Tehran is nearing the acquisition of a nuclear weapon.

Iran refutes the existence of a nuclear weapons program; yet, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has asserted that if the nation desired to pursue one, global leaders “wouldn’t be able to stop us.”

Israel, not a signatory to the international Non-Proliferation Treaty, is the sole nation in the Middle East thought to possess nuclear weapons. Israel neither acknowledges nor refutes that.

Netanyahu asserts that Israel has consented to Trump’s proposal.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced on Tuesday that Israel has consented to US President Donald Trump’s request for a ceasefire with Iran, following the accomplishment of its objective to eliminate Tehran’s nuclear and ballistic missile threats.

The statement expressed gratitude from Israel to President Trump and the United States for their support in defense and their involvement in neutralizing the Iranian nuclear threat.
