Justice Mansoor dismisses K-P chief minister

On Wednesday, Supreme Court Justice Mansoor Ali Shah denied Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s request for a meeting with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan in Adiala Jail, stating that he was approaching the “wrong door.”

Gandapur attended the court session presided over by Justice Shah, accompanied by prominent PTI politician Advocate Latif Khosa and the K-P advocate general. Khosa petitioned the court to promptly consider the request for a meeting with the PTI founder due to the current budget session of the provincial legislature.

Gandapur stated that the budget approval process is now underway in the K-P legislature. He underscored the significance of the party leader’s vision in the budget. He expressed dissatisfaction that, despite his numerous requests, the meeting between the PTI founder and the provincial budget committee had not been scheduled.

Justice Shah stated that Chief Justice Yahya Afridi or the Supreme Court Registrar should be contacted. He additionally remarked that Chief Justice Afridi served as the chairman of the Practice and Procedure Committee, thus, reaching out would conserve time. “You have approached the incorrect door,” Justice Shah stated. “We are unable to take any judicial action, as Chief Justice Yahya Afridi is in Lahore; therefore, it is advisable to contact the registrar or the chief justice,” Justice Shah informed the K-P chief minister.
