ISPR reports that a major was killed in a Balochistani terrorist attack.

An army major was killed by Indian-sponsored terrorists in the Awaran district of Balochistan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said Wednesday.

According to the army’s media wing, the incident happened when the security forces’ intelligence-based operation in the district was triggered by the alleged “presence of terrorists belonging to Indian proxy, Fitna al-Hindustan.”

“During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged the terrorist location and resultantly, three Indian sponsored terrorists were sent to hell,” said the statement.

However, during the intense exchange of fire, Major Syed Rabnawaz Tariq, 34, a resident of Muzafarabad, “a brave officer who was leading his troops from the front, fought gallantly and paid the ultimate sacrifice”.

“…the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of Indian-sponsored terrorism from the country, and such sacrifices of our brave men further strengthen our resolve.”

According to the ISPR, a sanitization operation was started in order to get rid of any more terrorists that might be present.

Since Taliban leaders returned to Afghanistan in 2021, there has been an increase in cross-border terror incidents in Pakistan, especially in the neighboring provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Even though increased military tensions with neighboring India did not lead to a major increase in extremist groups’ violence, the country did see a spike in militant attacks in May 2025.
