Amid startling disclosures, the NAB formally investigates the Rs40 billion Kohistan scandal.

The investigation into the massive corruption scandal in Kohistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has been formally elevated to a formal investigation by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). More startling information has been revealed by NAB’s most recent actions in the province.

Official documents show that assets totalling Rs25 billion have been found and seized in the case thus far. More than three kilogrammes of gold and more than Rs1 billion in cash and foreign currency have been seized by the NAB.

Furthermore, 73 commercial bank accounts totalling more than Rs5 billion have been frozen.

Additionally, the NAB has taken over 109 properties and seized 77 luxury cars in a number of cities, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Abbottabad, and Mansehra. These consist of 175 kanals of agricultural land, 30 homes, 12 stores and food courts, 25 apartments and penthouses, 2 commercial plots, 12 commercial plazas, and 4 farmhouses. These properties are estimated to be worth a total of Rs 17 billion.

High-profile people are expected to be arrested in the next 24 to 48 hours, and preparations are in progress, according to government sources.

Extremely clever and well-connected government officials, avaricious contractors, complicit bank officials, and others were involved in this massive fraud.

Without informing any financial oversight organisation, the accused quietly embezzled billions of dollars from the national treasury, acting with startling audacity.

Muhammad Ayub, a contractor implicated in the Kohistan scandal, has been taken into custody by the NAB. He received about Rs 3 billion in his account, and he used the stolen money to buy Azam Swati’s home.
