PTI moves LHC for permission to hold rally at Minar-e-Pakistan

The Lahore High Court has received a request from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for authorization to host a political demonstration at Minar-e-Pakistan on August 5.
Imtiaz Mehmood Sheikh, a PTI MPA, filed the petition. He said the court in the plea that although the Deputy Commissioner (DC) in Lahore had previously received a formal request for the demonstration, the necessary No Objection Certificate (NOC) had not yet been granted.
In order for the party to proceed with its scheduled meeting, the petitioner asked the court to order the relevant authorities to provide the NOC.
He maintained that the right to hold public gatherings is guaranteed by the constitution and that needless delays in granting permits amount to a restriction of political liberties.
