Today, Youm-e-Istehsal is being observed.

Youm-e-Istehsal is being observed today (Tuesday) by Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC), in Pakistan, and globally to express solidarity with the Kashmiris and commemorate the fifth anniversary of the illegal action taken on this day in 2019 by the Indian government.

The people of Pakistan and Kashmir observe Youm-e-Istehsal to send a message to the world that they oppose India’s unlawful occupation of Kashmir and its unlawful actions on August 5, 2019, when it revoked the region’s special status.

Articles 370 and 35A of the Indian Constitution, which gave occupied Kashmir special autonomy, were repealed by the Modi regime in flagrant defiance of international law and UN resolutions, and a military siege was placed on the region.

People from the rest of India were granted the ability to purchase real estate in India-held Kashmir and establish permanent residence there once the aforementioned articles were revoked. The action was interpreted by Kashmiris and opponents of India’s Hindu nationalist-led government as an effort to add Hindu settlers to the Muslim-majority region of Kashmir.

In 2020, the Pakistani government declared August 5 to be Youm-e-Istehsal in response to the contentious action. In response to Kashmir’s status change, Pakistan now observes this day every year.

On this day in 2019, India unlawfully and unilaterally revoked Jammu & Kashmir’s special status; the international community, Kashmiris, and Pakistanis have all since condemned this decision.

To commemorate the Day, special events have been planned. Before ending at D-Chowk, a rally will be held in Islamabad from the Foreign Office, with participation from dignitaries and individuals from various backgrounds.

At ten in the morning, there will be a one-minute silence.

All four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan will host special walks and festivities.

Special festivities have also been planned in conjunction with Youm-e-Istehsaal by Pakistani embassies overseas.

The sacrifices made by the Kashmiri people, the leadership’s efforts to the Kashmir independence fight, and the brutality of Indian tyranny will all be highlighted in special broadcasts.
