A PA committee has approved a significant change to the Anti-Terrorism Act.

A significant change to the Anti-Terrorism Act 2025 that aims to expedite investigations into terrorism-related incidents was passed by the Punjab government on Friday.
In a special session, the Standing Committee on Home Affairs of the Punjab Assembly adopted the amendment.
A Joint Investigation Team (JIT) would be established in accordance with the legislation to look into all terrorism-related crimes.
A police officer of SP rank, an intelligence agency representation, and personnel from the armed and civil forces will all be part of each JIT under the amended law.
The action was taken after the suggested adjustments were formally approved by the provincial government.
In the past, administrative committees were established to look into these kinds of situations, but the procedure frequently drew condemnation from the public and generated several questions regarding its transparency.
To commemorate the triumph against India, the Punjabi government celebrated “Youm-e-Tashakur” on Friday.
CM Maryam Nawaz’s flag-hoisting ceremony marked the official beginning of the festivities. High-ranking government officials, advisors, special assistants, and provincial ministers took part. During the ceremony, the national anthem was also played.
Special tributes were paid to the brave soldiers of ‘Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos’ with Quran recitations and prayers held for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks.
