PM Shehbaz praises Trump’s efforts to keep the peace.

After tensions between India and Pakistan escalated, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif claimed Friday that US President Donald Trump had been instrumental in keeping the peace.

Speaking at an event at the Pakistan Monument in observance of Youm-e-Tashakur, the prime minister said: “The entire nation is standing firmly behind the Pakistan Armed Forces with full strength. Millions of Pakistanis prayed for our military’s triumph on May 10.

“Very few days in history are given — one that is remembered for centuries,” he continued.

Referring to India, the prime minister said: “The enemy, which once claimed to be the regional hegemon of South Asia, had six of its aircraft shot down by us [Pakistan].”

He went on: “On the evening of May 9 and 10, I was notified by the COAS that India had launched missiles. He asked for permission to respond appropriately so that the enemies would remember him.

When we hit Indian air bases, they had a hard time hiding. The Army Chief contacted me once more to inform me that India is now asking for a ceasefire after the Pakistani Armed Forces responded forcefully.

The prime minister went on to say that “discussions are taking place around the world today regarding the Pakistan Armed Forces having achieved victory.”
