COAS asserts that the Pak-India conflict is unequivocally bilateral.

Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Thursday dismissed the idea of third-party involvement in the recent military conflict between Pakistan and India in May, asserting it was “unequivocally a bilateral confrontation”.

His statements were made during the corps commanders conference at the GHQ in Rawalpindi, which was convened to assess internal security and regional developments. Chairing the meeting, Field Marshal Asim alluded to the unfounded insinuations of the Indian army to mitigate its total defeat.

“The involvement of third parties in a clearly bilateral military conflict demonstrates a disingenuous effort at bloc politics, intended to misleadingly portray India’s self-designated role as a net security provider in a region increasingly disenchanted with Indian hegemonic aspirations and Hindutva-driven extremism,” the army chief asserted.

The deputy chief of the Indian Army asserted last week that India is confronting a two-front scenario, alluding to China’s involvement. Nonetheless, Field Marshal Asim’s assertion implied a different perspective.

Although Pakistan maintains a close defense partnership with China, officials assert that it was Pakistan’s strategic planning and indigenous technology that facilitated its victory over India. They contend that New Delhi’s attempts to implicate China are merely efforts to elicit sympathy and support from Western nations.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media division, reported that the corps commanders recited Fateha for the martyrs of recent terrorist assaults perpetrated by Indian-sponsored proxies.

The forum acknowledged recent victories against terrorist proxies and affirmed that “the blood of our Shuhada will not be in vain, and the safety and security of the people of Pakistan remains the highest priority” for the Armed Forces of Pakistan.

The forum emphatically stated that it is essential to implement decisive and comprehensive measures at all levels against the Indian-supported proxies. In the aftermath of its evident defeat in direct aggression against Pakistan following the Pahalgam incident, India is now intensifying efforts to advance its malevolent agenda through its proxies, Fitna al Khawarij and Fitna al Hindustan.

The army chief disclosed specifics of Pakistan’s proactive and effective diplomatic initiatives, encompassing recent visits to Iran, Turkiye, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), during which Field Marshal Syed Asim accompanied Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, as reported by the ISPR.

The forum was informed about the significant and unprecedented visit of the Chief of Army Staff to the United States, during which discussions with senior leadership provided an opportunity to convey Pakistan’s objective viewpoint on bilateral, regional, and extra-regional developments.

The forum undertook a comprehensive assessment of the current internal and external security dynamics, focusing on recent developments in the Middle East and Iran, and the increasing inclination towards the “use of force” as a favored policy instrument, necessitating ongoing enhancement of self-reliant capabilities alongside national unity and determination.

The forum was informed about the Pakistan Army’s current initiative to swiftly adapt to the evolving threat landscape and the changing nature of warfare. The army chief commended the leadership of the Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Air Force for enhancing tri-service collaboration.

In his final remarks, the army chief conveyed unwavering confidence in the operational preparedness of the Pakistan Army against the entire spectrum of threats.
