Nine senior officers of the SBCA have been apprehended.

An FIR was formally lodged on Wednesday, identifying senior SBCA officials and the proprietors of the collapsed structure.

Subsequent to its registration, the FIR was officially sealed by the police.

The incident involves the collapse of a five-storey residential structure on Fida Hussain Shaikha Road in the Baghdadi region of Lyari on July 4.

The catastrophe resulted in the deaths of 27 individuals and injured 11 others. The incident provoked indignation and initiated a comprehensive investigation into its cause and accountability.

The detained individuals include Additional Director General SBCA Irfan Naqvi, Zargham Shah, Retired Director Asif Rizvi, Chalis Siddiqui, Ashfaq Khokhar, Deputy Director Faheem Siddiqui, Assistant Director Zulfiqar Shah, and Faheem Murtaza.

The building’s owners have been apprehended for interrogation.

Sources indicate that SBCA officials are being questioned regarding their purported involvement in unlawful constructions in Lyari and their inability to avert structural infractions.

Authorities are persistently working to locate and apprehend all individuals identified in the FIR.

The Governor of Sindh has commenced relief operations for individuals impacted by the demolition of deteriorated structures in Lyari. The Governor’s House has commenced the provision of daily meals to the impacted families.
