On Thursday, the Punjab government enacted Section 144 throughout the province in response to severe rainfall and flood warnings.
The Punjab Home Department has issued a notification prohibiting all forms of swimming in dams, rivers, canals, ponds, and lakes.
The notification additionally specifies that bathing in rainwater collected on streets, roads, open areas, or public spaces is prohibited.
Furthermore, navigating boats in dams, rivers, canals, lakes, and ponds without official authorization is strictly forbidden.
The monsoon restrictions will persist until August 30.

In a communication on social media platform X, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced that a rain emergency has been declared in several regions of the province due to the severe rainfall and flooding conditions.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has published an extensive report outlining the human and infrastructural damages resulting from the current monsoon rains throughout the province.
The report indicates that monsoon-related incidents have caused 103 fatalities and 393 injuries in Punjab this season to date. Furthermore, 128 residences sustained damage, and six livestock animals died as a result of the incessant rainfall.
