The Supreme Court has reserved its ruling regarding the transfer and seniority of judges.

The constitutional bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan has reserved its judgment in the prominent case regarding the transfer and seniority of judges.

A five-member panel, chaired by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, closed the hearings following the last arguments presented by all parties, including Idrees Ashraf, the attorney for PTI founder Imran Khan.

During the hearing, Justice Mazhar stated that the Judicial Commission lacks the authority to mandate the transfer of justices. Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan queried if there exists any precedence for a judge’s transfer under Article 200 of the constitution.

In response to the inquiry, the Attorney General indicated that there has been no historical precedent for the transfer of judges, noting that the involvement of the President and Prime Minister in such affairs is restricted.

Upon the completion of arguments, the court deferred its verdict. A brief ruling regarding the judges’ transfer and seniority matter is anticipated to be disclosed later today (Thursday).
