The Clinics on Wheels are now prepared to serve all districts and metropolitan regions of the province.
The Punjab administration has reached another significant milestone in the healthcare sector. Chief Minister Maryam Sharif launched the second phase of the Clinics on Wheels initiative. She evaluated the mobile clinics and transferred the keys of the vehicles to the physicians.
In her address at the occasion, Maryam Nawaz Sharif stated that her foremost priority is to guarantee people access to free healthcare.
Pharmaceuticals for cancer, hepatitis, and cardiac patients are now being dispatched directly to their residences. Mobile clinics will soon be accessible throughout all districts and metropolitan regions of Punjab. “My aspiration of providing individuals with their rights directly is materializing,” she stated.
Maryam Nawaz praised Health Minister Imran Nazir, the Health Secretary, and the Primary Health Department, adding that this achievement would not have been attainable without their committed team. Several months prior, there were 245 Clinic on Wheels cars, and that figure has subsequently risen. These cars can effortlessly access streets and neighborhoods.
The Chief Minister additionally disclosed that these mobile clinics are entirely air-conditioned and function as mobile mini-operating theaters. In the past year, these clinics have treated 10 million individuals, with more than 45,000 patients benefiting each day. She also observed that Mayo Hospital currently provides exceptional therapeutic facilities.
She said that significant work in the healthcare sector was carried out during the tenures of Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif.
However, there came a time when even basic healthcare was out of reach for the public. During the preceding four years, the populace endured significant hardship, and their grievances went unheard. She emphasizsed her commitment to taking every possible step for public welfare.
She added that all government hospitals will now provide free medicines, for which the government has allocated a fund of Rs. 100 billion. Gradually, conditions in public hospitals are improving. The Clinics on Wheels initiative will also be further expanded to ensure every citizen has access to healthcare at their doorstep.
