Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan, conferred with President Donald J. Trump at the White House, as reported by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a news statement on Thursday.

The high-level engagement was scheduled at the Cabinet Room over Luncheon followed by a visit to the Oval Office. President Trump was accompanied by Secretary of State Senator Marco Rubio and Mr. Steve Witkoff, the U.S. Special Representative for Middle Eastern Affairs. Field Marshal Asim Munir was accompanied by Pakistan’s National Security Advisor.

A comprehensive discussion occurred regarding the existing tensions between Iran and Israel, with both leaders underscoring the necessity of dispute resolution.

During the meeting, Field Marshal Asim Munir expressed the profound gratitude of the Government and citizens of Pakistan for President Trump’s constructive and effective involvement in mediating a truce between Pakistan and India amid the recent regional crisis. The COAS recognized President Trump’s diplomatic acumen and his capacity to understand and tackle the complex challenges confronting the global community.

Additionally, Bilawal perceives the discussions between the COAS and Trump as a favorable advancement for Pakistan-US relations.

President Trump commended Pakistan’s continuous endeavors for regional peace and stability and acknowledged the strong counter-terrorism collaboration between the two nations. Both parties reiterated their dedication to ongoing cooperation in counter-terrorism efforts.

Conversations also included strategies for enhancing bilateral collaboration across several sectors such as commerce, economic development, mining and minerals, artificial intelligence, energy, cryptocurrencies, and emerging technologies. President Trump showed significant interest in developing a mutually beneficial trade engagement with Pakistan based on long-term strategic convergence and shared interests.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, representing the Government of Pakistan, issued an invitation to President Trump to conduct an official visit to Pakistan at a mutually agreeable period, symbolizing the cordiality of bilateral relations.

The meeting, originally planned for one hour, lasted over two hours, highlighting the depth and warmth of the discussion.
