Punjab raises ministers’, speakers’, and dy speakers’ leave benefits.

In yet another step to improve financial benefits for public office holders, the Punjab Assembly passed the Public Representatives Laws Amendment Bill 2025, which gives the provincial ministers, speaker, and deputy speaker full leave allowance equal to monthly salaries.
The Punjab Ministers’ Salaries, Allowances and Benefits Act of 1975, which only permitted 74% of the salary to be taken during official leave, is being amended by this amendment.
What is different now?
Ministers who previously received Rs74,000 in leave benefits against a monthly salary of Rs100,000 will now get their full monthly salary while on leave, according to official sources.
Now, ministers will receive Rs. 960,000 while on leave, with no deductions.
The speaker of the Punjab Assembly will receive a complete leave allowance of Rs. 950,000.
During leave, the deputy speaker will be paid in full, which amounts to Rs775,000.
