The PA speaker submits a disqualification reference concerning 26 PTI MPAs to the ECP.

On Thursday, Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Ahmad Khan submitted a reference to the Election Commission of Pakistan seeking the disqualification of PTI-backed MPAs.
The disqualification reference was filed against 26 suspended MPAs accused of causing a disturbance in the assembly during Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s speech in the budget session.
Malik Ahmad Khan appeared before the ECP and submitted a reference requesting the disqualification of 26 lawmakers.
The Punjab Assembly speaker previously suspended 26 assembly members for 15 sessions due to significant breaches of parliamentary regulations.
The suspended legislators were charged with disorderly conduct in the assembly, which included shredding agenda documents, chanting slogans, and obstructing proceedings. The measure was executed pursuant to Rule 210 of the assembly regulations.
The speaker underscored the necessity of maintaining the sanctity and order of the house at all costs.
He observed that Rules 223 and 210 were violated and cautioned that stringent measures were essential to uphold discipline.
The suspended legislators comprised Malik Fahad Masood, Muhammad Tanveer Aslam, Syed Riffat Mehmood, Yasir Mehmood Qureshi, Kaleemullah Khan, Muhammad Ansar Iqbal, Ali Asif, Zulfiqar Ali, Ahmad Mujtaba Chaudhry, Shahid Javed, Muhammad Ismail, Khayal Ahmad, Shahbaz Ahmad, Tayyab Rashid, Imtiaz Mehmood, Ali Imtiaz, Rashid Tufail, Rai Muhammad Murtaza Iqbal, Khalid Zubair Nisar, Chaudhry Muhammad Ijaz Shafi, Eman Kanwal, Muhammad Naeem, Sajjad Ahmad, Rana Aurangzeb, Shahbaz Amir, and Usama Asghar Ali Gujar.
