During the COAS visit, China praises the Pakistan Army’s contribution to regional peace.

The Pakistani military was praised by the Chinese leadership as a pillar of resiliency and an essential force for maintaining peace in South Asia.

According to ISPR, they made this statement in separate meetings with Field Marshal Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), who travelled to China on official business.

The COAS reaffirmed the unwavering strategic alliance between Pakistan and China during the visit by holding a number of high-level discussions with senior Chinese military and political authorities in Beijing.

The Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Vice President Han Zheng were visited by the COAS. The topics of discussion included the necessity for coordinated responses to common geopolitical concerns, the changing regional and global political scene, and connectivity initiatives under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Both parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to multilateral cooperation, sovereign equality, and long-term regional stability while expressing satisfaction with the extent of their bilateral engagement.

On the military front, Field Marshal Asim Munir met with Lieutenant General Cai Zhai Jun, the PLA Army’s Chief of Staff; General Chen Hui, the PLA Army’s Political Commissar; and General Zhang Youxia, the Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC).

The COAS was given a guard of honour upon arriving to PLA Army Headquarters, signifying the two Armed Forces’ longstanding friendship.

Comprehensive discussions on defence and security cooperation, such as counterterrorism cooperation, joint training, defence modernisation, and strengthened institutional ties, were part of these engagements. The focus was on enhancing strategic coordination and operational cooperation to address transnational and hybrid threats.

The Chinese military leadership reiterated full confidence in the strength of the bilateral defence partnership and acknowledged Pakistan’s pivotal role in promoting regional peace.

Field Marshal Asim Munir appreciated China’s consistent support and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further expanding military-to-military cooperation across all domains.

“The visit reflects the growing depth of politico-military ties between the two brotherly nations and underscores their shared resolve to advance regional security through sustained high-level dialogue and engagements,” ISPR said in a press release.
