Mushahid Hussain Syed, a distinguished international affairs specialist, characterized Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s meeting with US President Donald Trump as a significant diplomatic advancement, emphasizing its aim to enhance bilateral relations between Pakistan and the United States.

In an interview with Dunya News’ program “On the Front,” Mushahid underscored that this marks the inaugural occasion in history that a Field Marshal from Pakistan has received an invitation to the White House, deeming it a cause of national pride. He emphasized that Trump had already articulated his admiration for Pakistan, remarking that “today, there will be mourning in India,” in relation to the diplomatic implications.

Mushahid observed that Trump, recognized for his unorthodox diplomatic approach, would mention former Prime Minister Imran Khan during the meeting and is expected to commend Asim Munir on his promotion. He claimed that the Field Marshal is anticipated to receive head-of-state level protocol — an indication of Pakistan’s increasing geopolitical significance.

He additionally condemned India, asserting it had experienced setbacks in both military and diplomatic arenas, and accused it of disseminating false information. Mushahid stated that Pakistan’s principled position on Palestine is recognized by the US and underscored the necessity for Pakistan’s political parties to prioritize genuine concerns, internal democracy, and national interests over personal agendas.

He continued by stating that Pakistan’s recent strategic triumphs had fortified its standing and advocated for selflessness in domestic politics, particularly the liberation of political prisoners.

He condemned the G7’s recent declaration on international matters, alleged that Western nations are undermining Iran’s system under the pretext of nuclear issues, and noted a rising global discontent with Israel’s Netanyahu.
