Pakistan announces reductions in import taxes on luxury goods.

Significant duty reductions have been implemented for imported luxury cars, expensive accessories, perfumes, and bathroom fixtures, per an official announcement.
The import tax on new sports cars and branded jeeps has been reduced from 15% to 10% for high-end buyers.
Imported luxury sports jeeps now only have a 50% duty instead of 90%. Similarly, there will now only be a 5% duty on imported luxury boats, cruise ships, and cruises.
The 30% tax on branded imported watches and sunglasses will now only be 24%. Additionally, the 50% duty on imported cosmetics and perfumes has been reduced to 40%.
The duty on imported wash basins and wash tanks has been lowered from 30% to 24% in the bathroom fittings category, and the duty on bath tubs has been lowered from 20% to 16%. The tax rate on ceramic sinks will now be 32% rather than 40%.
Additionally, the 40% duty on imported artificial jewelry has been reduced to 36%. The duty on imported tablecloths and netwear has been reduced from 30% to 24%.
Separately, former Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb declared that Pakistan’s import regulations would be significantly altered.
The minister stated that beginning in September 2025, commercial imports of automobiles up to five years old will be allowed, subject to a 40% duty, during a Senate Finance Committee meeting presided over by Saleem Mandviwala.
