As the water level rises, the spillways at Tarbela Dam will be opened.

The water level in Tarbela Dam has increased as a result of the country’s upper regions experiencing constant, heavy rainfall, leading authorities to decide to open the dam’s spillways.
Because the operation of the Tarbela Dam spillways may cause flooding in the Indus River, residents who live close to the spillway routes have been advised to exercise caution.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) spokesperson estimates that the spillways’ opening will result in a 260,000–270,000 cusec increase in water flow.
Residents in the surrounding areas are cautioned not to approach water channels due to the possibility of an increase in the water level of the Indus River. Visitors should use caution and collaborate with local authorities when they are at locations close to the Indus River.
Additionally, riverbank communities in Nowshera, Swabi, and Haripur have received alerts. Civil Defense, Rescue 1122, the district administration, and other pertinent departments have been instructed to take preventative action.
Residents are advised to avoid rivers and waterways and to take the appropriate safety measures.
