Fawad Chaudhry consults Chief Justice Yahya regarding the postponement of case proceedings.

Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry appeared before Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Yahya Afridi, on Tuesday, voicing apprehension regarding the protracted delay in the adjudication of his case, notwithstanding court directives.

In the presence of his attorney, Advocate Faisal Chaudhry, the former minister informed the court that his case had not been set for a hearing, despite previous instructions. Advocate Faisal contended that a larger bench was accessible, thus the case should have been scheduled accordingly.

Fawad Chaudhry noted that despite the Supreme Court’s directives, the cases related to May 9 were being adjudicated daily, while his case remained unresolved.

CJP Yahya Afridi stated that the directive to resolve cases within four months must be executed without injustice.

He underscored that a singular case ought to be adjudicated in one anti-terrorism court (ATC) on a specific day, rather than having various facets of the same case addressed in multiple courts concurrently.

The chief justice guaranteed that the Registrar’s Office would notify them regarding the scheduling of their case in a timely manner.
