Turkish defense and foreign ministers come to deepen their relationship.

Early on Wednesday, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan arrived in Islamabad as part of a formal trip to Pakistan.

The Turkish foreign minister was welcomed by Additional Secretary Syed Ali Asad Gilani upon his arrival, according to the Foreign Office spokesperson.

He will meet with Field Marshal Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss ways to improve defense cooperation between the two countries.

Earlier, on Tuesday evening, Yaşar Güler, the Turkish Minister of National Defense, arrived here.

He is expected to meet with top Pakistani officials during his visit to talk about important topics of shared interest, especially in the areas of strategic cooperation, regional security, and defense cooperation.

Although Ankara and India have friendly relations, small Indian grocery stores and large online fashion retailers boycotted Turkish goods after Ankara backed Pakistan. Additionally, New Delhi revoked the clearance of Turkey-based aviation service provider Celebi for “national security” reasons.

On the fringes of the 17th ECO Summit in Khankendi, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met Friday to discuss topics of shared interest.
