On July 11, a public holiday was declared.

In honor of the yearly Urs celebrations of the revered Sufi saint Baba Haji Sher Diwan, the district administration has declared Friday, July 11, to be a public holiday.

All government offices in the district will be closed on the day, Vehari Deputy Commissioner Imrana Tauqeer announced in an official notification on Wednesday. However, ongoing exams administered by universities or education boards will not be affected by the holiday.

The DC added that emergency services would continue to run normally. “The public holiday has been declared to facilitate devotees and ensure smooth arrangements during the Urs celebrations,” the DC said.

The notification made clear that departments that provide vital services, such as emergency response, security, municipal, and health, will continue to operate normally.

Numerous religious and cultural events are held over several days during the annual Urs of Baba Haji Sher Diwan, which attracts a sizable number of devotees from all over Punjab. Relevant departments have been instructed by local authorities to guarantee security and logistical support for the anticipated gatherings.
