Southern Sindh and Punjab will continue to experience extreme heat.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reports that the southern parts of Sindh and Punjab will see sweltering temperatures today as the country’s plains continue to be affected by the continuing intense heatwave.

With no immediate respite in sight, the agency has issued a forecast warning of extreme heat in these areas.

Karachi weather forecast

For the next 24 hours, Karachi’s weather is predicted to stay hot and dry. Today’s low temperature in the city was 23.5°C, and the high is probably going to be between 38°C and 40°C. Karachi is said to have a comparatively high humidity level of 74%, which will make things more uncomfortable.

Keep track of regional temps.

Jacobabad in Sindh was hardest hit by yesterday’s heat, with the maximum recorded temperature reaching a scorching 44°C. Larkana, Lasbela, Mithi, Dadu, and Mirpur Khas were among the other cities that experienced intense heat, with temperatures reaching 43°C. Lahore’s temperature was comparatively lower at 38°C, whilst Karachi’s hit 41°C.

Comparatively, temperatures in Peshawar and Islamabad reached 35°C, Muzaffarabad recorded 33°C, Quetta recorded a lower 25°C, and Gilgit reported a light 22°C.

Residents in the impacted areas have been warned by the PMD to stay hydrated and limit their exposure to direct sunlight in order to prevent heat-related diseases, particularly during the hottest parts of the day.

It is anticipated that the extended hot spell will continue, and as the week goes on, there is a chance that things could get worse. Experts are keeping a careful eye on the situation and are ready to issue additional warnings should the temperatures rise to dangerously high levels.
