According to Karachi’s Chief Meteorologist, the city is predicted to see severe rainfall.
Sardar Sarfaraz, the Chief Meteorologist, has issued a warning to the inhabitants of Karachi, recommending them to exercise caution on account of the possibility of urban floods. He predicted that the rainy spell will last until the 31st of August.
The severe depression that is currently affecting the Indian state of Gujarat, he stated. According to him, a deep depression has the potential to produce winds running between 28 and 33 nautical miles per hour. As stated by the Met Office, “the city is likely to receive rain ranging from 150mm to 200mm.”
The windstorm might perhaps strike Karachi once more, he warned. When he continued, he said, “The weather system will reach near to the south of the city tomorrow, with the highest probability of heavy rainfall in the metropolitan area.”
Depressive state based on land
In India, the state of Gujarat and certain regions of Rajasthan are experiencing catastrophic flooding as a result of a land-based deep depression. This depression intensified over land and was made worse by the influx of moisture from the soils along its path or from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea.
It is a type of cyclonic system that typically forms over the ocean as a prelude to a tropical cyclone. Deep depressions are characterized by wind speeds that range from 51 to 62 kilometers per hour. On land, however, its genesis and intensification are extremely uncommon. A tropical cyclone, which has winds ranging from 62 to 88 kilometers per hour, is one notch below this one.
